The mass of the telescope is 13500kg. How much is the gravitational force on the telescope when it is 578km above the surface of the Earth?

Calculate the  gravitational force by using the following formula:

F =G Mm/r^2

Here G is the universal gravitational constant,M is the mass of the earth,m is the mass of the telescope, and r is the radius .

G = 6.673*10^-11

M=6.04*10^24 kg

r = 6400 + 578 km = 6978000m,

m= 13500 kg

F =(6.673*10^-11) (6.04*10^24)(13500)/(6978000)^2

 =112000 N

Thank you for your help.

But I don't quite understand why the mass of the earth is 6.04*10^24kg. It supposed to be 5.9742*10^24.

Besides, How did you find "r"?  what's the 6400?

please let me know! Thank you!!
Thank you but I am wondering about the "r"
Mass of the earth value is standard value.apporoximately 6.04*10^24 kg
