A term that is easily confused with density is specific gravity. For example, urinalysis reports commonly give the specific gravity of the sample rather than the density. What is meant by specific gravity? What are the units of specific gravity?

Specific gravity is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of the reference substance.

Specific gravity have no units since Specific gravity is a ratio.
