The absolute equation y = |x - 3|

Domain  { x : 0 ≤  x ≤  7}

Make a table

x

y = |x - 3|

(x, y)

 0

y = |0 - 3|= 3

 (0, 3)

1

y =|1 -  3|= 2

(1, 2)

2

y = |2 - 3|= 1

(2, 1)

3

y = |3 - 3|= 0

(3, 0)

4

y = |4 - 3|= 1

(4, 1)

5 y = |5 - 3|= 2 (5, 2)
6 y = |6 - 3|= 3 (6, 3)
7 y = |7 - 3|= 4 (7, 4)

Graph

1) Draw the coordinate plane.

2) Plot the point found in the table.

3) Connect the plotted points.

Range  { y : 0 ≤  y ≤  4}.
