ln (e^x) + 5

Rewrite the function as logarithm and exponential get cancel .

x + 5

Apply derivative with respect to x .

= d/dx [x + 5]

= d/dx [x] + d/dx (5)

= 1 + 0                  [ derivative of  xn = n xn-1 ]

So the first derivative of the function ln (e^x) + 5 is 1 .
