Slope of the line joining the points (1, 2) and (6, 3)

Slope of the line is m = (y1 - y2)/(x1 - x2)

m = (2 - 3)/(1 - 6)

m = 1/5

Slope of the line joining the points (7, -1) and (k, 1)

Slope of the line is m = (y1 - y2)/(x1 - x2)

m = (-1 - 1)/(7 - k)

m = -2/(7-k)

Line joining the points (1, 2) and (6, 3) is parallel to the line joining the points (7, -1) and (k, 1).

Slope are Equal.

-2/(7-k) = 1/5

-10 = 7 - k

k = 7 +10

k = 17

Therefore the value of k is 17.
