8) The function y = f(x)

Now the value of f(g(0))

From the table, substitute the value of  g(0) = 2

f(g(0)) = f(2)

Observe the graph, f(2) = - 2

f(g(0)) =  - 2

Option (b) is correct choice.

I don't understand. How by observing the graph f of 2 become negative 2.

y = f(x)

We need to find f(2).

Look at the graph of f(x) and find x = 2.

Tracing up from x = 2 to the graph of f(x) , we arrive at y = - 2.Then the point (2, - 2) is on the graph of f(x), and f(2) = - 2.

(or)

(x, y) point is really means (x, f(x)) point.

We need to find the (x, y) point in the set of (x, f(x)) points that has a first coordinate of x = 2 then f(2) is the y value of that point.

In this case, the point with x = 2 is (2, - 2), so:

f(2) = - 2.

9) The function y = x2 - 4x + 5

The above function represents a parabola in the graph.

Compare it to standard form of parabola is y = ax2 + bx + c.

a = 1, b = - 4, c = 5

Axis of symmetry x = (- b)/2a

x = [- (- 4)]/[2(1)]

x = 4/2

x = 2

Option (e) is correct.
