Observe the graph,

The domain of the function f  is  closed interval  [1, 5].

The largest value of f  is f (1) = 4 , which is absolute maximum.

The smallest value of f  is f (5) = 1, which is absolute minimum.

Solution:

Absolute maximum is 4.

Absolute minimum is 1.
