In this assignment you will apply transformations: translation, reflection, rotation, and dilation.

Part 1:

Design a template of your own.

Step 1:

Consider a 3 inches by 3 inches square index paper.

Step 2:

Cut down a piece in top in a Wavy manner.

Step 3:

Cut down a piece in right side in a Wavy manner.

Step 4:

Cut down a piece in down in a Wavy manner.

Step 5:

Cut down a piece in left in a Wavy manner.

Part 2:

Consider a image inches and image inches of sheet paper.

A tessellation of a flat surface is the tiling of a plane using one or more geometric shapes, called tiles, with no overlaps and no gaps.

Draw a tessellate using the template.

Part 3:

(a)

Transformation:

Transformations are a fundamental part of computer graphics.

Transformations are used to position objects, to shape objects, to change viewing positions and even to change they are viewed.

(b)

Types of transformation:

They are four types of transformation.

1. Translation.

2. Rotation.

3. Reflection.

4. Dilation.

Translation :

Moving an object/figure in space without changing its size, shape or orientation.

Foot steps, moving a box is best example for translation.

Rotation :

Rotating an object/figure about a fixed point without changing its size or shape.

Earth revolving around the Sun is example for rotation.

Reflection :

Reflection an object/figure across a line without changing its size or shape.

Mirror reflects your image is example of reflection.

Dilation :

Dilation is defined as either enlargement of reduction of a figure in plane movements.

If the scale factor is greater than 1, then it is said to be enlargement.

If the scale factor is between 0 and 1, then it is said to be reduction.

Enlarging a picture from wallet-size to wall-hanging size, dilation is used.

Part 3:

(c)

Tessellation:

A tessellation is created when a shape is repeated over and over again covering a plane without any gaps or overlaps.

(d)

Tessellations affect your everyday lives like in nature, homes, buildings, and on roofs, walls, and windows.

Architect, mathematicians and designers use tessellations.

Tessellation is used to design tiles, wall and wallpaper.
