From the AC analysis you can know the circuit bandwidth,low cutoff frequency, the gain, the role-off, any peaking will show up in the frequency response. AC analysis is done only when AC is applied along with DC source. DC source is applied just to bias the transistor in required region of operations either forward active or saturation etc. Now when the transistor is set at a given bias point known as Q point, we use AC analysis to perform the operation we want to achieve with AC source either amplification of signal or otherwise.
