Given |r+3| = 10

Remove absolute value brackets andwrite to two equations.

r+3 = 10  and r+3 = -10

Now solve r+3 = 10.

Subtract 3 from each side.

r+3-3 = 10-3

r = 7

Now solve r+3 = -10.

Subtract 3 from each side.

r+3-3 = -10-3

r = -13

Solution r = 7 or -13.
