f ( x ) = x3 - 5 x 2- x + 6.

1)  f (2 ) = 23 - 5 * 2 2- 2 + 6.

f (2 ) = 8 - 20 - 2 + 6.

f (2 ) = 14 - 22 = - 8

f (2 ) = - 8

 f ( x ) = x3 - 5 x 2- x + 6.

2)  f (- 1 ) = ( - 1 )3 - 5 *(- 1)2-( - 1 ) + 6.

f (- 1 ) = - 1 - 5 + 1 + 6.

f (- 1 ) = - 6  + 7 = 1.

f (- 1 ) = 1.

Therefore f (2 ) = - 8 and f (- 1 )  = 1.
