Elimination method

First equation -7x+4y = 7

Multiple to each side by 2.

-14x+8y= 14 ---> (1)

Second equation 14x+8y = -1 ---> (2)

To eliminate the y value add theequations (1)&(2).

-14x+8y = 14

14x+8y = -1

____________

16y = 13

Divide to each side by 13.

y = 13/16

Substitute the y value in (2).

14x+8(13/16) = -1

14x+13/2 = -1

14x = -1-13/2

14x = -15/2

x = -15/28

Solution x = -15/28 and y = 13/16.
