System of equations are 8x + 5y = - 5 and 7x - 3y = 3

First line 8x + 5y = - 5

Write the equation in slope-intercept form y = mx + b, where m is slope and b is y -intercept.

The equation is 8x + 5y  = - 5

5y = - 8x - 5

y  = - 8x/5 - 5/5

y = - 8x/5 - 1

slope = - 8/5 and y -intercept is - 1.

y -intercept is - 1, so the line crosses the y -axis at (0, - 1)

Using slope find the next point.

Slope = rise/run = - 8/5

Start at point (0, - 1), move 8 unit down and 5 unit right, then plot the point (5, - 9).

Draw a line through these points.

Now  the second line 7x - 3y  = 3

Write the equation in slope-intercept form y = mx + b, where m is slope and b is y -intercept.

The equation is 7x - 3y  = 3

- 3y  = - 7x + 3

=  - 7x/-3 - 3/3

y  = 7x/3 - 1

slope = 7/3 and y -intercept is -1.

y -intercept is -1, so the line crosses the y -axis at (0, - 1)

Using slope find the next point.

Slope = rise/run = 7/3

Start at point (0, - 1), move 7 unit up and 3 units right, then plot the point (3, 6).

Draw a line through these points.

Graph :

From the graph lines are intersecting at (0,-1).

Solution x = 0 and y = - 1.
