1) -2/3x < 10

Multiply each side by 3x.

(-2/3x) (3x) < 10(3x)

Cancel common terms.

-2 < 30x

Divide each side by 30.

-2/30 < 30x/30

Cancel common terms.

-2/30 < x

-(2*1)/(2*15) < x

Cancel common terms.

-1/15 < x

x > -1/15

The solution is x > -1/15

2. 2x > -8

Divide each side by 2.

(2x)/2 > - (8/2)

(2x)/2 > -(2*4)/2

Cancel common terms.

x > -4

The solution is x > -4.

3. x + 8 > -3

Subtract 8 from each side.

x + 8 - 8 > -3 - 8

x + 0 > - 11

x  > -11

The solution is x  > -11.

1) The inequality is image

  • Step-1

State the exclude values,These are the values for which denominator is zero.

The exclude value of the inequality is 0.

  • Step - 2

Solve the related equation.

image

-2 - 30x  = 0

-30x = 2

x  = 2/-30

x = -1/15

Solution of related equation = -1/15

  • Step-3

Draw the vertical lines at the exclude value and at the solution to separate the number line into intervals.

  • Step-4

Now test a sample value in each interval to determine whether values in the interval satisify the inequality.

Test x = -0.1

Above statement is true.

Test x  = -0.05

Above statement is false.

Test x  = 0.05

Above statement is true.

The statement is true for x  = -0.1 and = 0.05.Therefore the solution is  x  < -1/15 and x  >0.

Solution x  < -1/15

> 0.
