-1/2x + 1/4 = 1/3x - 1/6

Substract 1/4  from each side

-1/2x  + 1/4 - 1/4 = 1/3x - 1/6 - 1/4

-1/2x = 1/3x -1/6 -1/4

Substract 1/3x from each side

-1/2x - 1/3x = 1/3x - 1/3x - 1/6  - 1/4

L.C.M of 2 and 3 is 6 and L.C.M of 6 and 4 is 12

(-3x-2x)/6 = (-2-3)/12

-5x/6 = -5/12

Cancel common terms

-x/6 = -1/2

 Multiply each side with -1

x = (1/12)*6 = 1/2

The value of x is 1/2

Equation : -1/2x + 1/4 = 1/3x - 1/6.

Add 1/2x to each side.

-1/2x + 1/4 + 1/2x = 1/3x - 1/6 + 1/2x

1/4 = 1/3x + 1/2x - 1/6

Add 1/6 to each side.

1/4 + 1/6 = 1/3x + 1/2x - 1/6 + 1/6

1/4 + 1/6 = 1/3x + 1/2x

L.C.M of 4 and 6 is 12 and L.C.M of 3x and 2x is 6x.

(3 + 2)/12 = (3 + 2)/6x

5/12 = 5/6x

Cancel common terms

1/2 = 1/x

Apply cross multiplication.

x = 2.

The value of x is 2.
