1)

The expression

[ 5 + (x + 3)/(x - 1) ] / [ (3x - 1)/(1 - x^2) ]

                           =   { [ 5(x - 1) + (x + 3)] /(x - 1) } / [ (3x - 1)/(1 - x)(1 + x) ]

                           =  -1 { [ 5x - 5 + x + 3]  / [ (3x - 1)/(1 + x) ] }

                           =  -1 {  6x - 2)  X [ (1 + x) / (3x - 1) ]

                           =  (-1) 2 {  3x - 1)  X [ (1 + x) / (3x - 1) ]

                           =  - 2 (x + 1)

2)

[ 4 - (1/x^2) ] / [ 1/x - 2 ]   =   [ 2^2 - (1/x)^2) ] / [ 1/x - 2 ]

                                        =   [ (2 - 1/x) (2 + 1/x) ] / [ 1/x - 2 ]

                                        =  -1 [ (1/x - 2) (2 + 1/x) ] / [ 1/x - 2 ]

                                        =  -1(2 + 1/x)

ANswer :

1)  [ 5 + (x + 3)/(x - 1) ] / [ (3x - 1)/(1 - x^2) ]   =  - 2 (x + 1)

2)  [ 4 - (1/x^2) ] / [ 1/x - 2 ]   =  -1(2 + 1/x)
