The linear inequality is 10x + 9 < 11x − 5.

subtract 10x from each side.

10x + 9 -10x < 11x − 5 -10x

9 < x - 5

Add 5 to each side.

9 + 5 < x

14 < x

x > 14

The numbers above 14 are solution to the inequality.
