The equations are 8x + 6y = 2 and x + 2y = -3.

x + 2y = -3

x = -2y - 3

substitute x = -2y - 3 in 8x + 6y = 2.

8(-2y -3) + 6y = 2

-16y - 24 + 6y = 2

-10y - 24 = 2

Add 24 to each side.

-10y - 24 + 24 = 2 +24

-10 y = 26

divide each side by -10.

y = -26/10 = -13/5

substitute y = -13/5in x = -2y - 3

x = -2 * (-13/5) - 3

x = 26/5 - 3 = (26-15)/5 = 11/5

(x , y) =(11/5, -13/5).
