Given line y = x-1

Compare it  to slope intercept form y = mx+b

Given line slope say m1 =1

Perpendicular line slope say m2.

Weknow that m1*m2 = -1

So Perpendicular line slope m2 = -1.

The line equation is y = x - 1.

Compare the equation with slope-intercept form line equation is y = mx + b, where m is slope and b is y-intercept.

Slope (m) = 1.

Because the slopes of perpendicular lines are negative reciprocals, the slope of perpendicular line is - 1.
