Elimination method

Given equation 4x+5y = -6

Multiple to each side by negitive one.

-4x-5y = 6 -------> (1)

And 4x-7y = 18 ---------> (2)

To eliminate the x value, add the equations (1)&(2).

-4x-5y = 6

4x-7y = 18

__________

-12y = 24

Divide to each side by negitive 12.

-12y/-12 = 24/-12

y =-2

Substitute the y value in (1).

-4x-5*-2 = 6

-4x+10 = 6

Subtract 10 from each side.

-4x+10-10 = 6-10

-4x = -4

Divide to each side by negitive 4.

-4x/-4 = -4/-4

x = 1

Solution x = 1, y = -2.
