Elimination method :

The equations are

2x + 4y = 10  ---------->(1)

2x + 3y = 7    ---------->(2)

Subtract (2) from (1)

2x + 4y = 10  ---------->(1)

2x + 3y = 7    ---------->(2)

-    -      -

__________

=> y = 3.

Substitute the y value in (1)

2x + 4(3) = 10

2x + 12 = 10

2x = 10 - 12

2x = - 2

x = - 1.

The solution is x = - 1 and y = 3.
