If NQ = 2x + 3 and QK = 5x-9, find JQ

Given : NQ = 2x + 3 and QK = 5x - 9.

Let us assume that, quadrilateral JKMN is a rectangle, draw a triangle with an x drawn from each side.

Where, the X intersects are labeled at the point "Q".

From the above picture,

NQ = QK = JQ

⇒ 2x + 3 = 5x - 9

   3x  = 12

   x = 4.

⇒ JQ = 2x + 3 = 2(4) + 3 = 8 + 3 = 11.

Therefore, JQ = 11.
