The function is f (x) = (x^2) - 14.

Replace the function notation f (x) by y.

y = (x^2) - 14

Interchange the roles x and y.

x = (y^2) - 14

y^2 = x + 14

y = √(x + 14).

Replace the variable y by the inverse notation f ^ -1(x).

⇒ f ^ -1(x) = √(x + 14).
