The equation is y = 2x + 3.

Make the table of values to find the solutions that satisfy the equation.

Choose values for x and find the corresponding values for y.

x

y = 2x + 3

(x, y )

 - 2

y = 2(- 2) + 3 = - 4 + 3 = - 1

 (- 2, - 1)

-1

y = 2(- 1) + 3 = - 2 + 3 = 1

(- 1, 1)

0

y = 2(0) + 3 = 0 + 3 = 3

(0, 3)

1

y = 2(1) + 3 = 2 + 3 = 5

(1, 5)

2

y = 2(2) + 3 = 4 + 3 = 7

(2, 7)

From the table the solutions are y = - 1, 1, 3, 5, and 7, when x = - 2, - 1, 0, 1, and 2.
