The area under the curve y = f(x ) between x = a and x = b is given by image

When the curve lies entirely above the x - axis between a and b.

Area bounded by the curve  y = 4 - 2x ^2  and the x axis between x = -1 to x = 1.

To find area need to find definite integration between the limits image
