  • The equation 2x 2 = 32

Divide each side by 2.

(2x 2 )/2 = 32/2

(2x 2 )/2 = (16 * 2)/2

Cancel the common terms.

x = 16

Apply squre root on each side.

√(x )= √16

x = ± 4

Solutions x = 4 , - 4.

  • The trinomial - x + x - 12

It's related quadratic equation is image

Using the quadratic formula to find the roots.

 image

Multiply each side by negative one.

Compare it to quadratic form image

a = 1, b = - 1 , c = 12

b2 - 4ac  = (-1)2 - 4(1)(12) = 1 - 48 = - 47

b2 - 4ac < 0

The discriminant is negitive ,The polynomial has two complex roots.

Roots are image
