How do I solve this quadratic simultaneous equation?

2x - y =1 [2]

Substitute y in first equatuion.

Multiply each side by negative one.

Apply squre root on each side.

Substitute x in  y  = 2x -1.

Solution x  = 2 and y  = 3.
