The function f(x) = 12/(x2 - 4x)

y = 12(x2 - 4x)-1

Differentiating on each side with respect to x.

Apply the formula  d/dx(xn) = nxn-1

y' = - 12 (x2 - 4x)-1-1 d/dx(x2 - 4x)

y' = - 12 (x2 - 4x)-2 (2x - 4)

y' = - 12(2x - 4) /(x2 - 4x)2

y' = (- 24x + 48) /(x2 - 4x)2.
