In above equation

Z = Atomic Number.

A = Mass number = Number of Nucleons = The total number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus of an atom

X = Symbolic representation of the Chemical element.

In any balanced equation

Total of mass numbers or Atomic Numbers of each molecule on Left side and right side are equal.

Equate Atomic Numbers both sides.

11 + 1 = Z + 1

Z = 11.

Solution : Z = 11.

1b)

Equate Mass numbers both sides of given equation.

23 + 2 = A + 1

A + 1 = 25.

A = 25 - 1

A = 24

Solution : A = 24.
