Step 1 :

Substitution method

The system of equations are y = - 4x - 7 and y = - x + 3.

Find the value of x  by substituting - x + 3 for y in the first equation.

- x + 3 = - 4x - 7

-3x = 10

x = -10/3

Step 2 :

Substitute the x value in second equation.

y = - x + 3

  = - (-10/3) + 3

   = 19/3

Solution:

The common point is x = -10/3, y = 19/3.
