Step 1:

Increasing / Decreasing test :

If on the interval, then f  is increasing on the interval.

If on the interval, then f  is decreasing on the interval.

Observe the graph image.

over the intervals image and image, therefore the function image is increasing on the intervals image and image.

over the interval image, therefore the function image is decreasing on the interval image.

Solution :

The function image is increasing over the intervals image and image.

The function image is decreasing over the interval image.
