A 10.0 g bullet is fired horizontally into a 200 g block that is initially at rest at the edge of a table of height 90.0 cm. The bullet remains in the block. After the impact the block lands 200 cm from the bottom of the table. Find the initial speed of the bullet.

Find the time of the flight by using the formula:

Find the velocity of the bullet and table combination by using the formula:

From the coservation of momentum.

Substitute image.

          = 98.05 m/s

          = ( 98.05 m/s ) ( 2.24 mph/(m/s))

          = 219.63 mph
