Given that,

In an arithmetic sequence first term = a = -5

nth term in a arithmetic sequence is a + (n - 1)d

Tenth term = 13

a + (10 - 1)d = 13 where d = common difference, n = 10

-5 + 9d = 13

9d = 13 + 5

9d = 18

d = 18/9

   = 2

Therefore common difference d = 2.
