radius of the pool =  diameter / 2 = 8 /2 = 4 ft

Height of pool = 18 in = 1 ft 6 in = 1 1/2 ft = 3/2 ft.

The  surface area of the pool (A):

A = Area of sides + Area of base

    = 2Πrh + Πr2

   = 2Π  * 4 * 3/2 + Π * 4 * 4

   = 12Π+ 16Π

   = 28 * 22/7         (Π = 22/7)

   = 88

The  surface area of the pool is 88 sq. ft.
