What two numbers when added the sum is 10, and when multiplied the product is 40 ?

Given that sum of th two numbers is 10 and product is 40.

Let two numbers be x and y

x + y = 10

y = 10 - x

Substitute y value in xy = 40

x(10 - x) = 40

It has no exact roots we have to use roots of the quadratic equation formula

Here a = 1 , b = -10 and c = 40.

Therefore the two numbers are not real they are complex numbers they are
