Distance between the poins say (x1,y1) = (-40,0)

(x2,y2) = (9,0)

Distance between the two points = √[(x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2]

= √ [(9+40)^2+(0-0)^2]

= √(49)^2

= 49
