The function f (x ) = (x + 2)(x + 3)

f (x ) = x ^2 + 3x + 2x + 6

f (x ) = x ^2 + 5x + 6

Apply derivative on each side with respect of x .

f '(x ) = d /dx (x ^2 + 5x + 6)

f '(x ) = d /dx  (x ^2) + d /dx  (5x) + d /dx (6)

We know that d /dx (x ^n) = n x ^n  - 1

d/dx (x ) = 1

d/dx (constant) = 0

f '(x ) = 2x + 5
