The equation is |(8c-1)/2|= 4.

First rewrite the above equation in the form |ax+b| = c where c ≥0 and it is equivalent to the statement  ax+b = c or ax+b = - c.

Rewrite the equation |(8c-1)/2|= 4 as two equations (8c-1)/2 = 4 or (8c-1)/2 = -4.

Then solve each equation separately.

Solve the equation 1: (8c-1)/2 = 4.

Multiply each side by 2.

8c-1 = 8

Add 1 to each side.

8c-1+1 = 8+1

8c = 9

Divide each side by 8.

8c/8 = 9/8

c = 9/8.

Solve the equation 2: (8c-1)/2 = -4.

Multiply each side by 2.

8c-1 = -8

Add 1 to each side.

8c-1+1 = - 8+1

8c = -7

Divide each side by 8.

8c/8 = -7/8

c = -7/8.

The solutions of the equation are 9/8 and -7/8.
