Given

y = x - 5      →(1)

y = 9x + 43  →(2)

From (1) & (2).

x - 5 = 9x + 43

Group like terms.

- 8x = 48

Divide each side by negative 8.

x = - 48/8 = - 6

x = - 6.

Substitute the x value in (1).

y = - 6 - 5 = - 11

y = - 11.

Solution of the system is x = - 6 and y = - 11.
