The points are A(0, 0) and B(- 8, 6).

Mid point = [(x₁+x₂)/2, (y₁+y₂)/2]

Substitute the values of A(x₁, y₁) = (0, 0) and B(x₂, y₂) = (- 8, 6) in [(x₁+x₂)/2, (y₁+y₂)/2]

Mid point = [(0 - 8)/2, (0 + 6)/2]

= [- 8/2, 6/2]

= [- 4, 3].

The mid point of the segment is (- 4, 3).
