The derivative: y'= 3x^2 + 2ax + b The second derivative: y"= 6x + 2a =0 -> x= -2a/6 =1 (point of inflection) -> a= -3 Replace a=-3, x=1, y=6 to y=x^3+ax^2+bx-4 -> b=12
