Substitution method

Given first equation x + 3 = 2

Subtract 3y  from each side.

x  = -3y + 2 ---> (1)

Second equation 2x - 3y  = 22 ---> (2)

From (1) substitute the x  value in (2).

2(-3y + 2) - 3y  = 22

-6y + 4 - 3y  = 22

-9y + 4 = 22

-9y  = 18

Divide to each side by negitive 9.

= -2

Substitute the value in (1).

x  = 6 + 2

x  = 8

Solution x  = 8 and y  = -2.
