Ungroup terms uisng distributive property a(b+c) = ab + ac

2 * x + 2* 4 - x = 15

2x + 8 - x = 15

Group like terms using commutative property of addition a + b = b + a

2x - x + 8   = 15

x + 8 = 15

Apply subtraction proprty of equality; if a = b then a - c = b - c.

subtract 8 from each side

x + 8 -8 = 15 - 8

x = 7

I hope it helps!
