Solve 5x + 7 < 2 and 5x + 7 > - 18

5x + 7 < 2

Subtract 7 from each side

5x + 7 - 7 < 2 - 7

5x + 0 < -5

5x < -5

Divide each side by 5

x < -1.

Solution of the inequality 5x + 7 < 2 is {x | x < - 1}.

5x + 7 > -18

Subtract 7 from each side

5x + 7 - 7 > -18 - 7

5x + 0 > -25

5x > -25

Divide each side by 5

x > -5.
