One girl owed 5/8 interest, sold 1/5 interest.

The LCM of 8 and 5 is 40. So, let the guy $ 40.

She own 5/8 of the interest in the original price. So, it is (5/8)(40) = $ 25

She sold 1/5 of her interest so she must get (1/5)(25) = $ 5

But actually as per the problem she gets Rs.100.

Therefore, the cost of the original price must be 8 times which is $.8,00. [5 goes into 40, Rs.1,00 will go into Rs.8,00].
