(3/4)x+5 = 1/2(x-8)

Multiple to each side by 2.

2[(3/4)x+5] = 2/2(x-8)

2x*3/4+10 = x-8

3x/2 +10 = x-8

Subtract 10 , x from each side.

3x/2 -x+10-10 = x -x -10-8

(3x-2x)/2 = -18

x/2 = -18

Multple to each side by 2.

2x/2 = -18*2

Solution x = -36.
