x - 2 < 4 and x  + 4 > 7

The compound inequality is x - 2 < 4, x + 4 > 7

First inequality x - 2 < 4

x  < 4 + 2

x  < 6

x < 6

Second inequality x + 4 > 7

x > 7 - 4

x > 3

Solution x  < 6 or x  > 3

Solution set {x |3 < x < 6}
