Write an equation in slope-intercept form for the line parallel to y = 5x - 2 that passes through the point (8, -2).

The line equation y  = 5x - 2

Slope - intercept form of a line = mx + b.

Here m  = slope, = intercept of y .

We know that parallel lines slopes are equal.

Parallel line passes through (8, -2).

Point slope form of a line equation is image

Substitute the slope and point  in  point slope form.

Required line equation is y  = 5x  - 42.
