A) The sentence is four less than twice w.

Twice w is 2w.

Four less than twice w is 2w - 4.

Therefore the algebric expression is 2w - 4.

B) The sentence is three times the sum of x and y.

Sum of x and y is (x + y).

Three times the sum of x and y is 3 * (x + y).

Therefore the algebric expression is 3(x + y).
