A) The equation is -2.2y = -26.4.

Divide each side by -2.2.

-2.2y / -2.2 = -26.4 / -2.2

y = -26.4 / -2.2

y = 12

The solution is y = 12.

B) The equation is -4x + 3 = 15.

Subtract 3 from side.

-4x + 3 - 3 = 15 - 3

Apply Additive Inverse Property: a + (-a) = 0.

-4x + 0 = 15 - 3

Apply Additive Identity Property: 0 + a = a.

-4x = 15 - 3

-4x = 12

Divide each side by -4.

-4x / -4 = 12 / -4

x = 12 / -4

x = -3.

The solution is x = -3.

C) The equation is -3x + 5 = -8x - 7.

Add 8x to each side.

8x - 3x + 5 = 8x - 8x - 7

Apply Additive Inverse Property: a + (-a) = 0.

8x - 3x + 5 = 0 - 7

Apply Additive Identity Property: 0 + a = a.

8x - 3x + 5 = -7

5x + 5 = -7

Subtract 5 from each side.

5x + 5 - 5 = -7 - 5

5x + 0 = -7 - 5

Apply Additive Identity Property: 0 + a = a.

5x = -7 - 5

5x = -12

Divide each side by 5.

5x / 5 = -12 / 5

Cancel common terms.

x = -12 / 5.

The solution is x = -12 / 5.
